Nov 2011 Meeting - Unlock the Power of JEE6 in the Cloud

Not too long ago (circa 2008 and earlier) finding somewhere to host host your Java applications on line was a rare opportunity to be cherished.  Times have changed with the popularity of the "Cloud" movement.  Today, it seems that any PaaS (Platform as a Service) provider that wants to be taken seriously must offer Java as a development platform.  For the November meeting, the Tampa Java User Group will look at another PasS running Java. This month, we will explore running JEE applications on OpenShift, a PaaS from RedHat inc.

NOTE: the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday Nov 15 (week before the holidays)

Meeting Abstract
Join us for this informative and and technical talk with Grant Shipley - PaaS Evangelist at Red Hat, to learn how to unlock the power of Java EE6 in the Cloud with JBoss AS7 and OpenShift. We'll show you how to take a sample Java EE6 application, deploy, manage and scale it in the cloud leveraging JBoss AS7 running on the OpenShift platform-as-a-service. Everything you'll see in the talk you'll be able to repeat at home. We'll also provide code and free Amazon EC2 credits. If you are interested in learning about the benefits of Java EE6, what's new in JBoss AS7 and how to get all that goodness in the cloud, this talk is for you.
