** Tampa JUG August 2011 Meeting **
Continuing with the exploration of Java 7 features, this month we are going to take a closer look at JavaFX 2.0.  For those of you unfamiliar with JavaFX, it is Oracle's technology for building engaging GUI-rich client applications (http://javafx.com).  For our August 2011 meeting, we will have Jim Clarke come back to Tampa for a presentation on JavaFX.

Title: JavaFX 2.0 - What's New

Abstract:

====

JavaFX provides a powerful Java-based UI platform capable of handling large-scale data-driven business applications. JavaFX 2.0 is a major update to the JavaFX platform that embraces the core Java platform. Starting with this version, developers can create JavaFX applications completely in Java. As a result, developers can now preserve existing investments by reusing Java libraries in their JavaFX applications. It provides a rich set of graphics and media API to simplify development of visual applications.

Jim Clarke, co-author of JavaFX - Developing Rich Internet Applications, will bring us up to date on the latest JavaFX 2.0 features, including the new WebView control that allows you to embed live web pages directly in your Java applications. He will also talk about Swing and JavaFX integration, as well as a new open source project he is working on called GroovyFX, that provides a Groovy binding for JavaFX.
